Our Mission in Child Health

The Child Life and Child Health department exists to protect children from ill health, violence, abuse, homelessness, and neglect — while advocating fiercely for every individual, family, community, and state to invest in children.

Child protection and rights are everyone's concern. CMHDA provides education, advocacy, and recruits health personnel to meet the health needs of children — organising fundraising events and seeking grants to assist families, health institutions, and sick children in informal settlements who lack resources for medical treatment.

What We Do

Three Core Mandates

CLCH operates across three interlocking functions — each essential to protecting and restoring the health of every child we serve.

01

Child Protection & Advocacy

We advocate for children's rights at every level — individual, family, community, and state. No child should suffer ill health, violence, abuse, homelessness, or neglect. We give voice to those who have none.

  • Protection from violence & abuse
  • Advocacy for homeless children
  • Anti-neglect campaigns
  • Policy-level child rights advocacy
03

Fundraising & Grant Seeking

We organise fundraising events and actively seek grants to fund medical treatment for children in informal settlements, assist overburdened health institutions, and support families who cannot afford care.

  • Fundraising events
  • Grant applications
  • Medical treatment support
  • Health institution assistance
Health Focus Areas

Diseases & Health Conditions We Address

These are the critical health challenges affecting children in the communities we serve — each one preventable or treatable with the right resources and care.

Child Malnutrition

Undernutrition stunts growth, weakens immunity, and impairs brain development. We work to identify and treat malnourished children before lasting damage occurs.

Critical Priority

Malaria

The leading cause of child death in sub-Saharan Africa. We support prevention campaigns, mosquito net distribution, and treatment access for affected children.

Critical Priority

Pneumonia

A leading killer of children under five. Early diagnosis and antibiotic treatment save lives — but only when healthcare is accessible. We bridge that gap.

Critical Priority

Diarrhoea & Dehydration

Preventable with clean water and sanitation, diarrhoea kills thousands of children each year. We address root causes alongside treatment and oral rehydration support.

Critical Priority

Anaemia

Iron-deficiency anaemia affects cognitive development and energy levels in children. Nutritional interventions and supplements are central to our health strategy.

High Priority

Septicaemia

Bloodstream infections that can become fatal within hours. Rapid diagnosis, IV antibiotics, and timely hospital referrals are life-saving interventions we support.

Critical Priority

Typhoid Fever

Spread by contaminated water and food, typhoid is endemic in many communities we serve. Clean water advocacy and vaccination campaigns are key responses.

High Priority

Lymphoma

Childhood lymphoma requires specialist oncology care — rarely available in rural Ghana. We advocate for referrals, funding, and access to life-saving treatment.

Specialist Care

Encephalopathy

Brain dysfunction from infection, hypoxia, or metabolic causes requires urgent neurological care. We support early identification and emergency referral pathways.

Specialist Care

And Many More

Our health mandate covers all preventable and treatable childhood illnesses — wherever children are suffering and resources are lacking, CLCH responds.

Our Goal

Every Child's Right to Health

Our goal is to have every child realize their right to health and well-being — leaving no one behind. Not a single child in Ghana or beyond should go without the care they need simply because of where they were born.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…" — Jeremiah 1:5
Our Aim

Mobilising Partners Worldwide

Our aim is to mobilize partners, health specialists, institutions, and personnel around the world to educate, advocate, and raise funds for the well-being of children — particularly the most vulnerable in rural communities and urban centers of Ghana and beyond.

Who We Serve

Reaching the Most Vulnerable

We prioritise children who have been left furthest behind — in the informal settlements and rural communities where healthcare is hardest to reach.

Informal Settlements

Children in slums and informal communities face the greatest burden of preventable disease, with the least access to healthcare. We go where others don't.

Rural Communities

Distance from health facilities means rural children often die from treatable conditions. Mobile outreaches and trained community health workers bring care to them.

Urban Deprived Areas

Urban poverty creates its own health crises. Overcrowding, poor sanitation, and unaffordable care leave thousands of city children without the health services they need.

Vulnerable Families

We support families who cannot afford treatment for their sick children — covering hospital bills, medications, and specialist referrals through fundraising and grants.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was sick and you looked after me..."
— Matthew 25:35–36

Be the Hands That Heal

Every gift, every partner, every prayer moves us closer to a world where no child is left behind in sickness.
