Quality Education
We provide access to quality education for underprivileged urban children — covering school enrolment, learning materials, tutoring, and literacy programmes that give every child the foundation they need to succeed.
Urban poverty hides in plain sight. Children in low-income city communities face the same cycles of deprivation as those in rural areas — but with less visibility and fewer advocates. CMHDA brings education, healthcare, and community empowerment directly to them.
Underprivileged children are those who lack access to the resources, opportunities, and advantages that their more fortunate peers possess — often due to low-income families, poverty, poor health, or geographical isolation within the city.
This lack of resources creates significant disadvantages in education, health, and overall well-being — hindering their ability to thrive and break cycles of poverty. Urban poverty is often invisible: families live in overcrowded housing, attend under-resourced schools, and face daily financial crises with no safety net.
CMHDA sees the child behind the statistic — and responds with practical, faith-driven programmes that address root causes while meeting immediate needs.
"Every child in the city deserves the same chance as the child in the most privileged neighbourhood."
— CMHDA MissionCMHDA addresses urban child deprivation at every level — from classroom to clinic, from home to community — so that breakthrough is possible for every child we serve.
We provide access to quality education for underprivileged urban children — covering school enrolment, learning materials, tutoring, and literacy programmes that give every child the foundation they need to succeed.
We connect urban children with healthcare services — funding medical check-ups, providing nutrition support, facilitating immunisations, and helping families navigate the health system for their children's ongoing wellbeing.
Education extends beyond the classroom. We provide arts, sports, drama, music, and character-building enrichment activities that develop confidence, creativity, and emotional resilience — nurturing the whole child, not just their academic progress.
Breaking the cycle of child poverty requires addressing family poverty. We engage parents in sustainable income-generating activities — providing training, seed support, and microfinance linkages so that families can rise together and provide for their children long-term.
Individual programmes alone are not enough. CMHDA advocates publicly for the rights and needs of underprivileged urban children — raising awareness in churches, communities, and with policy-makers to create a better environment where every child can flourish.
Behind every statistic is a real child in a real community — with real potential waiting to be unlocked.
"He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap."— Psalm 113:7
Poverty in the city is often hidden — less visible than rural deprivation but no less devastating for the children living through it.
Urban poor communities are overlooked — sandwiched between wealth, they are easily ignored by programmes designed for either the rural poor or the urban middle class.
Low-income parents often lack the resources or skills to break the cycle, passing disadvantage on to the next generation without intervention.
Urban schools in poor communities often lack materials, qualified teachers, and safe learning environments — perpetuating educational disadvantage.
Without a voice or champion, these children's needs go unaddressed by policy and society — making awareness and advocacy a critical part of the solution.
"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed." — Psalm 82:3
